Uplifting Marion’s youth and families

The Black Heritage Council is committed to uplifting Marion’s youth and families while fostering a sense of pride in African-American history and culture. Our mission encompasses several key areas:

Youth and Family Support

We actively support programs (such as SAAF) that benefit local youth and their families. From educational initiatives to community-building efforts, we strive to make a positive impact.

Neighborhood Revitalization

We’re dedicated to rehabilitating blighted homes on the west side, contributing to the beautification and revitalization of our neighborhoods.

Promoting Awareness

We aim to promote an awareness of African-American history and the remarkable contributions of African-Americans to our diverse society.

Cultural Appreciation

Our organization provides a nurturing environment for sharing cultural values and fostering an appreciation of diversity.

Recognition of Excellence

We inspire community-wide participation in acknowledging outstanding achievements by African-Americans.

Scholarship Programs

We support education through the Ohio State University of Marion Minority Scholarship Fund and offer the Black Heritage Council Scholarship, providing opportunities for African-American students to attend the college of their choice on a competitive basis.
